"Gem were brought on board for this year’s PGA EuroPro event at Galgorm plus co-ordinated the George Best Invitational and for both they played an integral part behind the scenes. Gem brings a high level of expertise required for such a prestigious event, while their experience and contacts regarding all press and PR activity for the events was crucial in getting our message out to the public."

Winter Series 09
Royal County Down

The lads at Golf Event Management ran a fantastic event at Royal County Down recently. It was my first competitive round of the year and although the conditions at Newcastle were tough, Seamus and Paul did a great job.

Joe Hayes Celebrity Golf Classic
Warrenpoint Golf Club

The idea for a celebrity golf classic first came about from a conversation I had with Seamus during the Philip Walton Dundrum House Pro-Am. I wanted to do something for the nuns at Cuan Mhuire Treatment and Addiction Centre in Newry as a way of saying thanks to them for literally saving my life.

It can’t have been easy for Seamus, Sylvia and Paul because I wouldn’t have been the easiest to work with, but fair play to them, they organised a wonderful day. All 30 teams had a sporting celebrity to play alongside on a day when old friends were reunited and big Niall Quinn didn’t disappoint. I was able to present a cheque for £6000 to sister Consuella and Seamus McCormack of the Sacred Heart Boxing Club. Thanks guys, you did a fantastic job.

Charity Golf Classic - Mourne Golf Club

Outside of Open Week there aren't many opportunities for mixed golf days at Mourne, but one of the most memorable was the first ever Jim Baxter Memorial that Sylvia organised. Not because our team won, but also because it was a very special day’s golf and evening's entertainment.

The generosity of everyone during the prize draw was unbelievable and I believe a cheque for over £4,500 was later presented to Cancer Research. A great day and there's been many more since. Thanks Sylvia.

Cyprus Ladies Amateur Open 2007

"What a week we had in April. It was my first visit to Cyprus and what a beautiful country with such warm and friendly people. I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in my first truly ‘international’ Open competition. The 'craic' was mighty and thankfully the golf not too serious - well it couldn’t have been for me to win Best Nett Prize on the second day.

The highlight for me - apart from that buggy ride down to the sixth at Aphrodite Hills - was our night in the Konia Tavern. Thanks Sylvia for making it all possible. I will certainly be back next year to hopefully win the money again and will be sure to bring more reinforcements from Scrabo.

Cyprus Ladies Amateur Open 2007

"Going to Cyprus for the first time in 20 years was a revelation. I swore I’d never go back as it was a dirty, smelly construction site, but through my friend Sylvia’s perseverance I finally relented and am so pleased I did. The local people were always friendly and helpful and now the golf there is divine - so too is the après golf!

"Everyone involved with Secret Valley Golf Club was superb, and despite my golf, I had a most enjoyable and memorable time. Everyone has to try the local Cypriot/Greek food and wine. It's certainly a great place to go for a golfing holiday and I will be going back in April 2008.”
